Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Lead Pharmacist specializing in Gastroenterology to join our dynamic team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals. This role requires the successful candidate to manage and lead the daily clinical pharmacy services within the Gastroenterology department. The Lead Pharmacist will be responsible for the development and evaluation of these services to meet the needs of the Unscheduled Care Division.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Service Management
- Oversee the delivery of clinical pharmacy services to the Gastroenterology department.
- Develop and evaluate clinical pharmacy services, ensuring they meet the specific needs of the specialty.
- Medicines Management
- Provide a framework for the safe, effective, and economical use of medicinal resources.
- Apply sound medicines management and clinical governance principles.
- Specialist Knowledge and Support
- Maintain and develop highly specialized knowledge in gastroenterology medications.
- Serve as a key resource within the department and Trust for gastroenterology-related pharmaceutical care.
- Service Quality and Evaluation
- Ensure a consistently high level of pharmaceutical service that aligns with the department’s objectives.
- Monitor, audit, and evaluate clinical pharmacy service provision, providing regular feedback.
- Antimicrobial Stewardship
- Contribute to the Antimicrobial Stewardship Programme at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals.
- Collaborate under the direction of the Lead Pharmacist for Antimicrobials.
- Prescribing and Policy Adherence
- Prescribe medications in line with Trust policies and procedures, subject to necessary qualifications.
