The Lead Clinical Pharmacist in Respiratory will take on crucial responsibilities, delivering specialized clinical pharmacy services in Respiratory medicine. This includes providing advice to medical teams, optimizing pharmacist practitioner and prescriber opportunities, and implementing evidence-based medicine practices. The role involves functioning as an independent prescriber within Respiratory medicine, identifying medicine-related causes for admission, and developing treatment plans for optimal patient care.
The post holder will be accountable for risk management in the pharmacy service, ensuring compliance with medicines legislation, Trust Medicines Policy, and relevant guidelines. Clinical audit of medicine use and pharmacy services within the Medical Division, as well as compliance with research and clinical trials in medicine, are integral components of the role. Additionally, the Lead Clinical Pharmacist will offer specialized pharmaceutical teaching to pharmacy, medical, and nursing staff.
As an Independent Prescriber (IP) pharmacist, the post holder will practice within the scope of GPhC registration, adhere to the Medicines Policy, and be responsible for ongoing evidence of competency in their prescribing role. This encompasses evaluating prescribing requirements, making necessary amendments, and navigating or referring patients appropriately across the healthcare system. The Lead Clinical Pharmacist will manage and direct a ward-based medicines management pharmacy service, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and alignment with Trust and departmental medicines management targets.
