About the Role

Nuffield Health, The Manor Hospital in Oxford, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Pharmacy Manager to lead our pharmacy services. This role requires a dynamic individual with a strong background in medicines management and a passion for providing excellent patient care.

As the Pharmacy Manager, you will be responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of the pharmacy team. Your key responsibilities will include ensuring the safe, legal, and cost-effective management of medicines across all clinical departments, chairing the Medicines Management Forum, and leading the Antimicrobial Stewardship program to minimize hospital-acquired infections.

In this pivotal role, you will manage daily ward rounds, ensuring medication safety through reconciliation, patient counseling, and monitoring for adverse drug reactions. You will also play a critical role in the discharge process, ensuring patients are well-informed and prepared for their return to primary care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and expert advice on medicines management, ensuring compliance with up-to-date policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Chair the Medicines Management Forum on a quarterly basis.
  • Lead, motivate, and manage the pharmacy team, fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Oversee the Antimicrobial Stewardship program, ensuring adherence to policies and minimizing hospital-acquired infections.
  • Conduct regular audits in collaboration with the Infection Prevention (IP) nurse/nurse team.
  • Ensure daily ward rounds are conducted efficiently, focusing on medication reconciliation, patient counseling, and clinical appropriateness of prescriptions.
  • Lead the team in facilitating timely and informed patient discharge, ensuring accuracy in dispensing and clinical checks.
