Summary

The Chief Pharmacist will provide strategic leadership, ensuring the safe and effective use of medicines within the ICB’s vision.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing expert advice on pharmacy and medicines matters
  • Leadership in commissioning responsibilities
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
  • Leading the development and implementation of Medicines and Pharmacy Transformation Plan
  • Creating infrastructure to support medicines optimization across health and care settings
  • Representing the ICB at regional/national levels on pharmacy and medicines issues
  • Championing multi-agency working to improve access to medicines and pharmacist support
  • Participating in governance structures related to medicines optimization
  • Providing strategic advice to Chief Executives and Boards on pharmacy and medicines optimization
  • Collaborating with public health teams to support the delivery of public health strategy
  • Nurturing pharmacy clinical leadership potential and talent
  • Collaborating with educational institutions to meet pharmacy workforce needs

Additionally, the Chief Pharmacist is accountable to the Regional Chief Pharmacist and the General Pharmaceutical Council for professional practice and adherence to national medicines and pharmacy policy.
