Assist in providing a safe dispensary service under supervision, following policies.
Dispense prescriptions accurately, referring unusual cases to a Pharmacist.
Use pharmacy IT system for precise labels.
Dispense controlled drugs, maintaining records per legislation.
Dispense clinical trial materials and special items.
Dispense compliance aids, addressing nursing staff and patient needs.
Undertake manual top-up of medication, stock checks, and expiry date checks.
Assist in quality assurance procedures and maintain safe systems of work.
Keep the department clean, tidy, and assist in staff training.
- Pharmacy Stores
- Assist in safe pharmacy stores and distribution service under supervision.
- Raise and receipt orders, check stock levels, and issue required amounts to wards.
- Receive and put away deliveries, resolving errors with suppliers.
- Issue stock items to wards and clinics, perform stock checks and expiry date checks.
- Deliver urgent items to the dispensary.
- Use pharmacyβs computerized stock control system.
- General Duties
- Take responsibility for personal and professional development.
- Foster good relationships with pharmacy and other AWP staff.
- Follow Trust manual handling guidelines.
- Ensure proper stock rotation and documentation.
- Refer drug-related requests to the appropriate Pharmacist.
- Maintain safe systems of work, following department policies and health guidelines.
- Participate in weekend and bank holiday services.
- Manage workload effectively, demonstrate multitasking capabilities, and complete in-house training.
