Must be already living in or commutable to Lympstone (Devon). You will have to undergo a security check including DBS.

Length: Initially until 8th August 2025

Hours: 37 a week Mon - Fri

Rate: £12.28 p/h

Role:

  • The Civilian Pool Lifeguard is responsible for the running and maintenance of the swimming pool.
  • They are to liaise with all the outside agencies regarding all aspects of the Swimming Pool and policy related hiring of the complex.
  • They are also to act on behalf of the PT Staff on all matters regarding the day to day running of the Swimming Pool, with the authority from the PT & SO and in accordance with PT Standing Orders.
  • They are to liaise with Royal Life Saving Society regarding all Lifeguards Training and Health & Safety policy.
  • Additional role to support the PT Store when not conducting lifeguarding responsibilities.
  • To lifeguard with the PT2 for Recruits during swim periods.
  • To Lifeguard for Unit and families Swims or as directed by the PT&SO.
  • Assist with day to day running of the PT Store when not involved in lifeguarding duties under the CQMS.
  • To advise PT & SO on matters regarding Swimming Pool safety.
  • To ensure the swimming pool and its areas conform with current Health and Safety Regulations and ensure the maintenance of all Swimming Pool equipment.
  • To ensure that access to the Swimming Pool is controlled and that it is secured throughout the working day and locked at night.
  • Ensure that CTCRM keeps its Centre Status with the Royal Life Saving Society via the maintenance of standards and adherence to the relevant codes of practice and governance.

Essential:

  • Previous experience of working in a lifeguard position.
  • Working Knowledge of RLSS.
  • Hold National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ).
  • Have a working knowledge of H&S in a swimming pool environment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Able to rationally think out and resolve problems as and when they occur.
  • Able to understand and complete paperwork associated with role e.g. daily checks, accident forms etc.
  • Basic computer literacy skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Must be able to remain calm during emergencies.
