Vacancies across the UK to suit all levels of scientists. This Technical Readiness Leader role has broad responsibilities in the delivery of the Personal Healthcare (PHC) innovation pipeline for Vitamins, Minerals and Supplements (VMS). The PHC VMS business is a key growth driver for PHC and has a diverse portfolio across multiple brands and product forms. A significant part of the business is managed via Contract manufacturers (CM) and this role will have key responsibility for partnership with our CMs and design and technical delivery with our CM partners.

You will act as an expert in all formulation and technology aspects across different forms (tablets, softgels, gummies, powders, liquids etc), ensuring technical rigour and compliance with internal P&G and external EU and local regulations and requirements. In this role, you will be part of a wider R&D innovation team and interact with colleagues from various P&G R&D subject areas located across Europe.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Defines learning plans with CMs to address complex formulation and technology questions, including product/formula preparation (e.g. physical determinations, product performance, product stability, etc).
  • Proficient in applying the scientific method to build, execute and report technical learning plans initiatives i.e. define the problem, gather data, form hypothesis, test hypothesis and report findings.
  • Proficient in formulation and specification tools and systems.
  • Ensuring Technical Product Development readiness of projects supporting the Personal Health Care portfolio is delivered in line with agreed business timings.
  • Providing technology and formulation advice to other functions within medicinal product development projects in Europe.
  • Performing product feasibility assessment and technical activities from product development with CMs.
  • Determining product development strategy (internal and external/C&D) including due diligence, risk assessment, and IP strategy.
  • Growing knowledge of relevant external supplier technology portfolios.
  • Able to design and execute sound learning plans to evaluate technology introduction into products to deliver breakthrough benefits or for cost innovation where applicable.

Qualifications:

  • Life sciences background.
  • Proven Technical Readiness experience ideally in regulated businesses.
  • Proficiency in technical systems and strong Quality mindset.
  • Strong project management skills: You will be responsible to ensure the readiness of the projects in line with timings and to the required standard.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal: A collaborative approach to work: You will need to work with team members from multiple functions within R&D and Marketing.
  • Previous experience of manufacturing and packaging processes within a regulated environment is required.
  • Specific knowledge of tablet, soft and hard gel capsule and oral liquid products is desirable, but not essential.
