PCR & ELISA Technician South Exeter, Starcross. 37 hours a week 9am to 5pm, Mon – Fri Contract Until 01/10/2025 In this role you will be performing Bacteriology testing in support of DEFRA and the devolved government’s scanning surveillance policies. Key Tasks: * Culture of different organisms (e.g. E. coli, Salmonella spp., Staph aureus, Brucella spp., Champylobacter spp., Mycoplasmas or TB) on specialist media isolated from a wide range of biological samples (e.g. faeces, tissues, swabs or food samples). * Using Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the detection of antibodies * Performing polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays for the detection and differentiation of Mycobacterium species * Use of specialist equipment such as PCR machines, liquid handling robots, plate readers, & centrifuges * Basic immunology including cell counting and immunoassay of cytokines. * Presentation of data in tabular or graphical formats for compilation in reports or papers. * Submission registration using LIMS software * Various supporting tasks to maintain laboratory testing activities. * Working to ISO17025 Essential Requirements: * Laboratory experience, experience of ELISA and PCR assays. * Experience in techniques related to general bacteriology/Microbiology. * Experience of working to quality standards (ideally ISO17025) * Good IT skills including Microsoft Office Software
