Our client is a global leader in the development and manufacture of seals and gaskets used in oil & gas, chemicals, food, water and pharmaceuticals.
Responsibilities
- Perform physical and mechanical testing of sealing materials (compression, leakage, R&D trials, competitor testing, troubleshooting) primarily using automated test equipment and traditional standard tests to ASTM, BS and DIN standards.
- Set up the various machines and carry out fault‑finding as required.
- Use MS Excel for data handling, analysis and communication of the results within the R&D team.
Qualifications
- Educated to at least ‘A’ level standard (or equivalent) ideally in maths, physics or mechanical engineering, or with equivalent industrial experience.
- Some experience in an engineering or instrumentation test laboratory environment is advantageous.
- Proficient with MS Excel; data handling and data analysis is a key part of the role.
- Strong mathematical bias.
- Attention to detail is critical to this role.
- Hands‑on mechanical skills, particularly with complex test equipment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Able to work on own initiative and without constant supervision but also works well as part of a team.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Results‑oriented, critical thinker and problem‑solver.
