Job Description
The Vegetarian Society is the UK's original and leading voice for the vegetarian and vegan movement, driven by convictions and hunger for change. The Society campaigns for dietary policies in addition to running a leading cookery school, amongst other activities.
The Role is to manage and lead the delivery of the Society’s corporate, charitable and revenue development content, including case studies, blogs, news reports and fundraising campaigns. Working closely with communications, marketing and commercial colleagues you will generate engaging content across a variety of platforms and channels including web, email, magazines/publications, press releases and social posts.
The Ideal Candidate will be an experienced content or publicity marketer, ideally (but not necessarily) with a Journalism, PR, English or Communications degree or a professional writing qualification. You must be able to demonstrate a minimum of two years’ prior content writing, perhaps with a portfolio of your work. Candidates from a similar ethical or 'cause-related’ organisation or sector would be of particular interest. It is essential that whoever is appointed shares the Society's values and can hence promote the ethos and agenda
Seeing as you will be required to edit and proofread blogs, articles and social posts – in addition to generating them – a strong attention to detail, the ability to multitask under pressure and regularly hit deadlines are all crucial.
The role can be conducted from home or hybrid, with approx’ one day per week office attendance (in central Manchester) for meetings etc – although this could ultimately rise, dependent on the future development of the role and the organisation.
