Job Title: Marine Electrical Superintendent

Effective and efficient Management of Marine Electrical Resources to carry out all electrical
engineering functions within the Business. Provide support to the Vessel Superintendents,
Technical Manager and Marine Manager in the Management of the Company’s Vessels.

Effective and efficient Management of Marine Electrical Resources to carry out all electrical engineering functions within the Business. Provide support to the Vessel Superintendents, Technical Manager and Marine Manager in the Management of the Company’s Vessels.
General Responsibilities:
1. Assists to ensure Marine/Safety/Engineering Department databases are in date and maintained.
2. Assists with preparation of docking specification, reports as well as maintenance.
3. Supervision of electrical work and testing during surveys, dockings, overhauls and other repairs and timely communication with operational management on emergent issues affecting scope and cost of repair tasks.
4. Consult with Technical Manager and Marine Manager to plan maintenance schedules, labour requirements and work programs and ensure the regular maintenance of plant and equipment.
5. Provide Marine Electrical Engineering technical advice to other departments within the business,
6. Liaise with Port authorities, Consultants, Shipyards, Contractors and Suppliers as required.
7. Daily review and update HELM/Dynamics status of assigned vessels, for the relevant electrical tasks and defects.
8. Coordinating with contractors and obtaining quotations for work deemed necessary on assigned vessels, following the appropriate approval processes for sign-off.
9. Promoting and encouraging the Company’s safety and environmental policy and culture.
10. Attend scheduled technical meetings in the office and contribute towards system and process reviews, to drive continuous improvement.
Key Accountability:
1. Ensuring that electrical problems raised on-board our tugs in the fleet are promptly investigated and rectified in a safe and consistent manner.
2. Verifying the vessels are compliant with relevant electrical legislation and requirements.
3. With the ship’s engineer, partly responsible for the maintenance and updating of tasks
on the ships HELM/Dynamics maintenance systems.
4. Ensure delivery of appropriate feedback of task completion, outstanding work, condition of asset and additional work required.
5. Conduct periodic inspection, testing of safety devises and megger testing of all marine assets.
This role would suitex-navy personnel or ETO wanting to come ashore,
The job is based in Liverpool, but regular travel to our other ports, predominantly South Wales and Belfast for instance, maybe once a month.
What type of candidate are we looking for?
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience working in the marine industry
- Basic understanding of Diesel engines & propulsion systems controls
- and monitoring systems
- Assist with fault finding and rectification of electrical and electronic
- Carry out electrical work and testing surveys, dockings, overhauls and
- other repairs
- Assist with the preparation of pre-docking tests and inspection, including
- reports and any follow-up required
- Excellent command of the English language, both oral and written
- Fully Proficient with computers and applications
- Full clean Driving License
Person Specification: Qualification & Skills
1. Minimum 2 years’ experience in capacity of Ship’s electrician or EOOW or corresponding position (essential)
2. Experience in shipbuilding/ship repair industry.
3. Thorough understanding of Diesel engines & propulsion systems control and monitoring systems.
4. Competent IT skills with a good understanding of Excel.
5. Thorough knowledge and experience of Risk Assessments, safe working practices,
permit to work systems and lock-out, tag-out processes, and willing to develop and
assist with the implementation of those systems, if needed.
