Test and troubleshoot printed circuit boards to ensure quality and functionality.

The PCB (Electronics) Test Department's role is to maintain the availability of tested fit for purpose Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) for use by Production Assembly for production builds, as well as supplying and supporting other departments with tested electronics requirements. The PCB Test Technician is responsible for carrying out work as requested by the PCB Test Department Manager in a safe, efficient and timely manner to high standards. The PCB Test Technician's role is primarily workbench based although some jobs require movement and manual handling/carrying items between the site buildings as well as liaising with other departments.

The Technicians work involves testing, modification, configuration, programming, registration, quality inspection, problem solving, fault finding and recovery, documentation and reporting, communication and teamwork.

Skills and Responsibilities (Position Specific)
  • Test PCBs following defined test procedures with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Competent soldering skills and ability to modify, fault find and repair surface mount electronic circuits.
  • Have a good understanding of electronics, components and circuits.
  • Ability to interpret and work from electronic circuit schematic diagrams and modification documents.
  • Competent using an array of electronics test equipment (Scopes, Frequency Generators, DMM, etc.).
  • Competent using computers with a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Maintain, improve and develop test kit and equipment as requested by the department manager.
  • Maintain test records and improve test documentation as requested by the department manager.
  • Perform quality inspections and registration of new PCBs.
  • Have good communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Will ensure ESD protection and tidiness/cleanliness procedures are adhered to within the department.
  • Demonstrate versatility completing delegated tasks depending upon demands and constraints.
