The
Supply Chain Coordination Manager will lead local and regional supply chain engagement for the SMR Project, with a particular focus on North Wales SME readiness, supplier capability development and timed mobilisation.
Embedded within the Commercial team and working closely with the Social Value team, the role will use contract pipeline visibility, demand planning and supply market insight to identify and shape targeted interventions and support programmes.
Working closely with the Communications team, the postholder will coordinate internal and external engagement, build trusted relationships across suppliers and stakeholders, ensure clear and consistent messaging, and help the local supply chain prepare and develop at the right time to support delivery and maximise regional benefit.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of a local supply chain engagement strategy for the SMR Project, with a particular focus on North Wales SME readiness, supplier mobilisation and long-term market development.
- Develop and maintain a view of supply chain capability, capacity and market readiness, linking this to contract pipeline information, demand planning and procurement sequencing to identify where targeted support is needed.
- Design and coordinate intervention plans to address identified readiness gaps, including supplier development activity, training in collaboration with the Skills Team, nuclear readiness guidance and compliance support.
- Provide timely, stage-appropriate guidance to suppliers to help them invest in capability development, accreditation, partnerships and mobilisation activity at the right point in the programme lifecycle.
- Align engagement activity across Tier 1 suppliers, internal teams, including the Skills team and Regional Communications team, other Licensees and regional support bodies to ensure clear, consistent and timely messaging to suppliers.
- Build and manage collaborative relationships with Chambers of Commerce, business networks, local authorities, industry bodies, other Licensees and other regional stakeholders.
- Deliver supplier events, campaigns and other market-facing activity to promote opportunities for local and regional suppliers in collaboration with the Communications Team.
- Identify supplier concerns, risks and barriers early, and identify opportunities to reduce barriers to entry, community concern and programme delivery risk.
- Provide supply chain readiness insight to inform tender strategies, packaging decisions and evaluation planning.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience required
- Proven experience in supply chain engagement, supplier development, business support or supply chain coordination, ideally in a major infrastructure and/or regulated environment.
- Strong understanding of SME development needs and the practical barriers suppliers face in preparing for major project opportunities.
- Experience of assessing supply chain capability or capacity and using this to inform demand planning, supply market planning and targeted interventions.
- Strong strategic thinking and commercial awareness, with the ability to connect contract pipeline information, demand signals, supplier capability and intervention planning into a coherent delivery approach.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, relationship management, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build credibility and work collaboratively.
- Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver activity to programme milestones.
- Experience of planning and delivering supplier engagement events, workshops and outreach campaigns.
- Understanding of quality, compliance or regulated delivery expectations relevant to suppliers preparing for nuclear or similar complex programmes is desirable.
- Understanding of Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and the Procurement Act 2023 is desirable.
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent experience in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business, Commercial Management, Economic Development or a related field.
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e. g. CIPS or similar) is desirable.
- Welsh language skills are desirable.
