Major Projects Team Lead to join our Building Services Design team based in Salford / Speke. Kier Design is a top‑25 engineering consultancy offering construction‑focused, innovative and sustainable solutions.
Location: Salford / Speke
Hours: 40 hours per week with flexible scheduling.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) design for large, complex construction projects, acting as the central point for technical excellence, leadership and client liaison.
- Support the Head of Service (Building Services) in managing the business, working with Electrical and Mechanical Team Leaders to coordinate solutions for new builds, refurbishments and minor works.
- Develop and maintain strategic and key client relationships, managing utilisation and achieving monthly/annual metrics for the team.
- Deliver quality output, set, monitor and maintain standards for product delivery, align with industry best practices.
- Oversee designs, feasibility studies, multi‑stage designs and condition reports, liaison with other Kier disciplines for effective coordination.
- Maintain programme of CPD events to keep the team competent and capable.
- Communicate regularly to management on all matters affecting output, progress, cost and risks.
- Play an active part in business development: bid submissions, presentation materials, client meetings, and bringing new work opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Chartered Engineer and member of CIBSE or IET.
- Degree in Mechanical Building Services or Electrical Engineering.
- Significant experience managing and driving multi‑discipline technical teams to meet challenging business targets.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a broader business audience.
- Understanding of quality procedures and document control in engineering design.
- Ability to pass BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) requirements.
