Every Future Foundation is an anti‑racism youth charity, with the mission to combat institutional racism and all kinds of racial prejudice by educating the next generation and providing them with the tools to become change‑makers. Our 1st mission is to educate all children across the UK, we do this in the form of anti‑racism school workshops and teacher training workshops. Our 2nd mission is to nurture and train young leaders to become anti‑racism activists. We have piloted our Activism Academy Programme this year with great success and we are running the 2nd cohort from November – May 2024.

As the Activism Academy Project Manager at Every Future Foundation, you will play a pivotal role in empowering young individuals to combat racism and extremism in their communities and society at large. The position offers a unique opportunity to lead a 6‑month intensive Activism Academy program, guiding and mentoring 40 passionate young activists on their journey towards creating positive social change. You will be responsible for organising the entire program, from onboarding participants to coordinating training sessions and managing mentors. Your dedication to eradicating racial issues and fostering a supportive learning environment will be instrumental in shaping the future of our society.

Job Responsibilities

  • Onboarding and Coordination: Lead the onboarding process of 40 young participants into the Activism Academy programme. Ensure all necessary parental and teacher permissions are obtained, and maintain accurate contact details for effective communication.
  • Training Session Management: Oversee the organisation and management of online training sessions, in‑person training days at our office, a field trip to Cambridge University and Finale pitch event. Use technology to create a conducive learning environment – particularly important for the online sessions.
  • Guest Speaker Recruitment: Identify and recruit guest speakers for specific training sessions. These speakers should be experts in relevant fields and can offer valuable insights to enhance the learning experience.
  • Mentorship Programme: Establish and manage a volunteer mentorship programme for the participants during the latter half of the Academy. Conduct Enhanced DBS checks and reference checks on mentors to ensure a safe and supportive mentoring relationship. Regularly check‑in with mentors to evaluate the progress and support provided to each participant.
  • Alumni Network Creation: Develop an alumni network for the previous year’s participants. Maintain regular communication through monthly newsletters, providing updates on opportunities and events. Involve past participants in certain aspects of this year’s Academy, encouraging continuity and growth.
  • Team Management: Act as a line manager for facilitators and guest speakers involved in the programme. Provide guidance, support, and constructive feedback to enhance their performance and ensure the success of the Academy.
  • Technology Implementation: Set up and manage the required technological tools and platforms throughout the programme. Facilitate seamless communication and resource sharing among participants, mentors, and facilitators.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Project Management Experience: A proven track record of successfully managing projects, ideally in educational or social impact settings.
  • Youth Project Experience: Previous experience working with youth and a passion for empowering young individuals to create positive change.
  • Fast‑paced Start‑up Environment: Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast‑paced start‑up environment, demonstrating adaptability and resourcefulness.
  • Proactive Mentality: Possess a proactive and solutions‑oriented mindset, capable of taking initiative and driving projects forward.
  • Passionate: Be passionate about anti‑racism and social justice.
