An established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is looking to strengthen its building structures team in Bristol following continued growth and a strong forward workload.

The business works across a broad range of UK projects, including residential, student accommodation, commercial, retail and industrial schemes. With the Bristol office continuing to develop, there is now an opportunity for an experienced Graduate Structural Engineer to join the team and contribute to the design and delivery of high quality building structures projects.

This position would suit a motivated graduate engineer with a few years’ structural design experience who is keen to develop technically, take on responsibility and progress within a growing regional team.

You will work closely with senior engineers, technicians and wider project teams, gaining exposure to varied schemes while helping shape the continued growth of the Bristol presence.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the structural design and analysis of building structures projects across a variety of sectors.
  • Prepare calculations, sketches, specifications and design information under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Work closely with technicians to help translate design intent into clear, coordinated technical drawings and models.
  • Attend project meetings, site visits and design reviews, contributing to technical discussions and project coordination.
  • Develop practical engineering judgement while supporting the delivery of efficient, buildable and well considered structural solutions.

Required Experience

  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Previous UK consultancy experience within building structures, ideally gained across a range of project sectors.
  • A developing understanding of structural design in materials such as steel, concrete, masonry and timber.
  • Experience preparing calculations and design information for building structures projects.
  • Working knowledge of relevant design codes, standards and engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis and design software, along with Microsoft Office.
  • A proactive approach to learning, problem solving and taking ownership of tasks.
  • Good communication skills and the confidence to liaise with colleagues, clients and project teams.
  • An interest in progressing towards chartership, with support from experienced engineers.
  • Site experience or exposure to construction-stage support would be beneficial.
