The Education Network Birmingham is seeking a Learning Support Assistant for a specialist SEND school in Atherstone. This permanent, full-time role involves 37.5 hours per week across 39 weeks per year, offering an annual salary between £20,000 and £25,000.
You will help pupils overcome barriers, build confidence, and reach their potential by working alongside teachers and therapists within a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering personalised assistance in classrooms and during other activities
- Supporting emotional wellbeing
- Adapting materials to suit individual needs
- Providing personalised support to pupils with a range of SEND
- Supporting learning both inside and outside of the classroom
- Helping pupils work towards their individual EHCP outcomes
- Supporting communication, independence and emotional development
- Developing positive relationships and encouraging confidence and resilience
- Supporting positive behaviour and safeguarding strategies
- Adapting your approach to meet individual sensory, communication and learning needs
- Working collaboratively with families and colleagues
The Successful Candidate Will Have:
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with SEND
- A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
- A patient, caring and compassionate approach
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to adapt to different learning and behavioural needs
- A calm and resilient approach when supporting challenging situations
- A commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
- Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly within SEND, education, care or therapeutic settings
