As a Toolmaker at JLR, you'll support the maintenance, optimisation and introduction of press tooling used in vehicle production at our West Midland Plants. You'll be working on tooling improvements, repairs and new model programmes and you'll play an important role in delivering quality and performance while continuously growing your skills in a highly skilled environment. WHAT TO EXPECT
- You'll work closely with production, quality and engineering teams to keep tooling performing at its best. This is a hands-on role where your expertise will help support continuous improvement across the press shop.
- Carrying out preventative maintenance activities on press tooling to support quality and production performance.
- Supporting die repair, reconditioning and tooling improvement activities across press and blanking lines.
- Completing engineering changes and tooling modifications to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Investigating tooling issues through problem-solving and root cause analysis.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams and safely undertaking die movement activities using overhead cranes.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- An engineering apprenticeship at NVQ Level 3 or equivalent with relevant toolmaking experience.
- Experience working within a press tool manufacturing or maintenance environment.
- Experience of automotive press tooling, skin panel tooling or aluminium pressings, which would be advantageous.
- The ability to demonstrate a strong engineering and toolmaking background.
- The ability to communicate effectively and contribute positively within a team environment.
