Pay Rate: Depending on Level of Qualification and Experience (to be discussed with the Manager).

The Nursery Nurse reports to the Manager and Deputy Manager. Responsibilities include:

  • Adhering to Nursery Policies & Procedures, complying with the Children Act, Health and Safety legislation, and guidelines from Ofsted and the EYFS.
  • Maintaining confidentiality within the nursery.
  • Working collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Providing care and supervision tailored to children's physical, emotional, and intellectual needs.
  • Planning and preparing activities to meet individual needs, liaising with parents, and setting working targets to ensure effective communication within the nursery.
  • Promoting equal opportunities for all children, respecting their religious, racial, gender, disability, cultural, or linguistic backgrounds, and addressing any instances of racism or discrimination.
  • Keeping development records and observations.
  • Managing children's behaviour positively.
  • Ensuring the cleanliness, maintenance, and safety of playrooms and equipment.
  • Supervising and mentoring Nursery Assistants and Students.
  • Acting as a role model for staff and assisting new team members to integrate.
  • Recording and monitoring accident, incident, and risk assessments.
  • Supervising meals and mealtimes, including preparing bottles for babies when necessary.
  • Performing laundry duties.
  • Attending staff meetings as scheduled by the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager.
  • Participating in parent evenings, publicity events, open weekends, and children's outings.
  • Performing any other duties relevant to the role as directed by the Deputy or Nursery Manager.
