Our Aviation Infrastructure team is based in AECOM offices and are passionate about creating innovative, resilient, and sustainable solutions for airports of all sizes, including major commercial hubs and greenfield airports to general aviation airfields and military installations. Each team member has a development plan to provide a clear pathway to personal development and career progression. The team provides technical solutions throughout the project lifecycle from masterplanning, feasibility, preliminary and detailed stage designs and construction and handover. Our clients are varied from both the private and public sector and include airport investors, airport operators and major contractors.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Design: contribute to airport engineering projects including runways, taxiways, aprons, vehicle service roads, aeronautical groundlighting and signage installation, navigational aids, drainage improvements, utility relocation and protection, and pavement rehabilitation on a wide variety of civil and military multi-disciplinary aviation projects.
- Produce: 3D models, 2D drawings and data rich digital deliverables applying automation and scripting (Dynamo, Python and Civil 3D APIs) to streamline production.
- Manage: models and documentation in ProjectWise and Autodesk Construction Cloud, implementing and managing BIM workflows in compliance with ISO 19650 and project BEPs.
- Organise: take ownership and demonstrate responsibility for delivery of assigned tasks in alignment with project programme and budgets.
- Collaborate: with multi-disciplinary design teams consisting of airport planners, architects, engineers and digital leads across the UK and Europe. Attend client meetings and contribute to discussions with project stakeholders around designs that you have developed.
- Assure: perform model validation, coordination and clash detection using Navisworks Manager. Demonstrate a commitment to AECOM’s Quality Assurance processes and procedures.
- Improve: contribute to the continuous improvement of AECOM’s digital standards, libraries and templates.

Qualifications Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Advanced Autodesk Civil 3D capability (corridors, surfaces, pipe networks, grading, data shortcuts) and experience working on multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of BIM processes beyond Level 2 and ISO 19650 information management.
- Proficiency with ProjectWise, BIM 360 / ACC, and Navisworks Manage.
- Experience using Dynamo, Python, or Civil 3D automation tools.
- Experience in design, planning and construction support of civil engineering projects; experience within the airport environment is desirable but not essential.
- Knowledge of DMRB or highway civil engineering design.
- Knowledge of Civil Aviation standards and recommended practices (ICAO, EASA, CAA, FAA, MAA).
