Our Trust has a small Research Team supporting research across the whole Acute Trust and Ambulance service. In previous years it has excelled in recruitment to high‑quality studies and trials and achieved great successes for a Trust of our size. The diverse workforce, including doctors, nurses, midwives and allied health professionals, continues to strengthen our research portfolio.
The Research Support Assistant will support the Research Governance Office Team with day‑to‑day delivery of research‐related administrative tasks. The role works proactively and independently as a member of the R&D team to deliver core administration functions such as:
- Processing study amendments
- Archiving
- Oversight for research passports
- EDGE maintenance
- Social media support
It also assists the wider research team with delegated activities during study set‑up and delivery, maintains quality through study monitoring, implements corrective action plans, records timelines and information on trackers, and organizes, attends and minutes departmental meetings. The role is advertised as full‑time (37.5 hours per week) but a slightly reduced part‑time arrangement may be negotiated.
Qualifications
Essential
- Education to A-level/NVQ 3 or equivalent level.
Desirable
- Degree or equivalent experience.
- Evidence of NHS experience.
- Research experience within a health‑related organisation.
- Recent Good Clinical Practice (GCP) in research training.
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working within administration.
- Experience using Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and report writing.
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage a diverse workload with cross‑functional teams.
- Responsive and flexible attitude and approach.
Desirable
- Experience of working within an NHS setting.
- Experience of working within an NHS R&D department.
- Experience of working on research prioritisation with a variety of stakeholders.
- Understanding of regulatory processes in research.
Skills and Knowledge

- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent working knowledge of the internet.
- Knowledge of EDGE (Local Performance Management System).
Desirable
- Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice Guidelines and current Trials’ Regulations (EU Directive Clinical Trials).
