Key Responsibilities – Chef

As a Chef, you’ll play a vital role in launching and supporting the leadership of a vibrant, multi‑outlet kitchen operation at one of the region’s most exciting new destinations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Head Chef in delivering the culinary vision across the Farmshop, Café Restaurant, Barista Coffee Bar, Playbarn Café, Concessions, and Events & Hospitality spaces.
  • Supervising and mentoring kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and hygiene are maintained at all times.
  • Managing daily kitchen operations, including food prep, stock rotation, allergen control, and assisting with supplier coordination.
  • Working closely with front‑of‑house and events teams to ensure smooth service for school visits, weddings, seasonal events, and private functions.
  • Maintaining consistency and efficiency across a logistically varied site, ensuring timely and high‑quality food delivery.
  • Upholding food safety and hygiene standards, including compliance with HACCP procedures.
  • Contributing to menu development, bringing creativity and seasonal inspiration to the table.
  • Driving continuous improvement, offering ideas and feedback to enhance the food offering and kitchen operations.

Qualifications - What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in a high‑volume, quality‑focused environment.
  • A strong background in wedding and event catering — you know how to deliver under pressure and support seamless execution.
  • A track record of supporting, training, and motivating kitchen teams to maintain consistently high standards.
  • Financial awareness, with experience in food cost control, GP targets, stock management, and supplier coordination.
  • Excellent coaching and delegation skills — you lead by example and support the Head Chef in developing the team.
  • Highly organised, detail‑oriented, and calm under pressure, especially during peak service.
  • An empathetic and effective communicator with a collaborative, solution‑focused mindset.
  • Strong menu execution, planning, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Able to work weekends and evenings as required by the operation.
