We're looking for a mid-weight User Researcher to join our Product Design team at Experian. You'll be joining a small, growing User Research team, playing a key role in shaping the user experience across two of our product domains. You'll help us understand our customers deeply and make confident, evidence-based decisions. Working in-house as part of a cross‑functional product team, you'll collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and engineers to plan and run research that drives meaningful impact from early discovery through to post‑launch evaluation. You'll report into our Lead User Researcher and be supported to grow your craft, stretch your thinking, and help define what great research looks like at Experian.

What you'll be doing:

  • Partner with designers and product managers to identify research opportunities across the end‑to‑end product lifecycle.
  • Plan and conduct research using a mix of methodologies, from usability testing and in‑depth interviews to card sorts and concept testing.
  • Balance generative and evaluative research to uncover needs, validate ideas, and inform product strategy.
  • Apply lean research principles, delivering just enough insight, at the right time, to move teams forward with confidence.
  • Synthesise findings into clear, actionable insights that influence product direction and measurable outcomes.
  • Champion the voice of the customer across teams, helping others see how research drives impact.
  • Contribute to evolving our research practice, operations, tools, and ways of working across domains.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in‑house within a product team (not just agency or consultancy experience).
  • Evidence of experimenting with AI tools to enhance your research process while maintaining research rigour and critical thinking.
  • The ability to clearly demonstrate how your research influenced product decisions and outcomes.
  • Proven expertise in usability testing, both moderated and unmoderated, including planning, facilitation, and analysis.
  • Hands‑on experience with qualitative methods such as interviews, diary studies, and card sorting.
  • Experience leading research from problem framing through to evaluation and impact measurement.
  • The ability to tailor your approach to context: balancing rigour with speed, depth with efficiency.
  • Strong storytelling and communication skills.

Additional Information:

  • Hybrid working – 40% office based.
  • Great compensation package and discretionary bonus.
  • Core benefits include pension, Bupa healthcare, Sharesave scheme and more.
  • 25 days annual leave with 8 bank holidays and 3 volunteering days. You can purchase additional annual leave.

Experian is also proud to be an Equal Opportunity and affirmative action employer. If you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation, please let us know at the earliest opportunity.
