Versant International requires an experienced mid-level lawyer to provide legal support with a focus on the EMEA regions for the CNBC International advertising team and channel distribution team. This is a FTC role, up to 12 months. The candidate would have experience within private practice TMT practice groups, experience with channel distribution and advertising sales work, and have excellent drafting skills and a commercial outlook.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe candidate would work closely with the commercial teams in London to maximise revenue and reach for Versant International News brands with a particular focus on CNBC International. Specific responsibilities are:
- Legal support to CNBC International in-house Advertising Sales function.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating advertising terms and conditions with agencies and advertisers, including insertion orders, advertising terms (with special focus on data security, usage, and measurement), custom advertising, sponsorship, custom content, brand consultation, data and events agreements.
- Negotiation of channel distribution agreements for the CNBC Europe and CNBC UK channel feeds with a range of MVPDs across broadcast, cable and IP delivery and streaming services.
- Ability to advise on broadcast regulations in UK and across EMEA.
- Ability to counsel about risks associated with engaging in a variety of digital and marketing activities and the collection and use of data.
- Preparation of agreements with vendors and production companies involved in creation of commercial content for advertisers including VOD and events.
- Engaging and drafting third-party rep agreements for sales and channel work in EMEA.
- Develop best legal and contractual practices in connection with a rapidly changing and expanding business – suggest ways to use technology to make contracting more efficient including implementing an automated contract process.
At least 8 years of legal experience in media distribution and advertising regulation. Ideally private practice or strong in-house team within TMT sector. Experience advising on digital advertising and working with new media platforms/FAST. Specialized in UK and/or EU sales and commercial law. Significant experience in negotiating and drafting contracts and a variety of terms and conditions. Capable of providing practical legal advice to members of business team at all levels and working with legal teams across functions (data privacy, employment, IP, compliance, etc.). Strong work ethic, good natured, team player. Strong academic record from top tier law school. Strong written and oral presentation skills. Ability to multi-task successfully, and to work both independently and collegially as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Qualified lawyer in good standing. Experience with data privacy, media regulation and ad tech is also required. Must be willing to work in London, United Kingdom. Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United Kingdom.
