As we continue to grow and evolve our portfolio, we are looking for a commercially minded Legal Manager with leasing expertise to play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of our leasing strategy across our centres. Working closely with Leasing Managers, tenants and external legal advisors, you will help drive leasing transactions efficiently and effectively, minimising risk and voids, maximising portfolio income, and contributing to a strong and carefully curated brand mix that supports the long-term success of our destinations.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the key liaison between tenants, Leasing Managers and internal/external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and consistent best practice throughout the leasing process.
- Lease Negotiation Support: Support Leasing Managers with lease negotiations, including renewals, re-gears and new deals, to achieve optimal commercial outcomes.
- Legal & Commercial Coordination: Coordinate and prepare all required commercial and legal information for external legal counsel to enable accurate and timely lease drafting.
- Information Flow Management: Manage the flow of information across tenants, legal representatives and internal teams to ensure efficient transaction progression.
- Deal Protection & Issue Resolution: Provide commercial and legal support during the documentation stage to resolve outstanding issues and safeguard agreed deal terms.
- Lease Review & Amendments: Review lease structures and documentation, recommending amendments where operational or commercial issues are identified.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to improve processes, driving efficiency and delivering time and cost savings across the leasing function.
- Workload & Team Coordination: Manage your own workload while coordinating the Legal Administrator and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
- Deputising Responsibilities: Support and deputise for the Senior Legal Manager as required.
- Debt Management Support: Assist with the management of debtor-related matters, including judicial and extrajudicial processes.
- Cross-Functional Legal Support: Provide autonomous legal and leasing support to internal departments as needed.
- Business Integrity: Act at all times in the best interests of the business and the entities we represent.
Qualifications:
- Legal Qualification: A degree in Law or equivalent legal qualification.
- Languages: Fluent written and spoken English; additional fluency in French, German, Italian, Spanish or Dutch would be an advantage.
- Commercial Property Experience: Experience in commercial property leasing, ideally within retail, outlet, shopping centre or mixed-use environments.
- Lease Knowledge: Strong understanding of lease structures, including going concern agreements.
- Lease Transactions: Experience in lease renewals, re-gears and licensing processes.
- External Legal Coordination: Experience working with external legal advisors to negotiate and complete lease documentation.
- Negotiation & Stakeholder Management: Strong negotiation skills with the ability to manage a range of internal and external stakeholders and resolve conflict effectively.
- Legal Advisory Skills: Able to provide clear, practical and commercially focused legal advice.
- IT Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Organisation & Prioritisation: Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
