Role Summary and Impact
The Media Planning Account Director works within a team of media planners with 1-3 direct reports, inspiring innovation and great thinking.
Responsibilities include strategic thinking, forecasting, weekly reporting reviews and campaign PCA or QBRs.
They will work with the team to ensure clear client communication and maintain a high standard.
The candidate will hold close client relationships and act as the primary face of Essence’s acquisition media planning product for those clients.
They will be responsible for campaign performance and delivery of business-enhancing innovation.
They will foster external relationships and monitor the market to review and implement opportunities and research for clients.
Role responsibilities
You will be a key player in planning for Google Ads, defining contextual layers and budget precision across channels, and helping evolve best practice, including adoption of emerging technologies, leading planning frameworks, and serving as main point of contact for clients from planning.
Manage the team to deliver planning and buying of activity.
- Be the point of contact for Planning across junior and mid level clients, lead weekly meetings with clients and presentations.
- Oversee and quality assure all deliverables produced by junior team members.
- Deliver high quality strategic presentations, actionable weekly reporting, post campaign analysis and clear briefs to Activation.
- Provide clear rationale to support media investment recommendations and evidence campaign performance versus outcomes.
- Work with Activation and Analytics to design test-and-learn framework for campaigns.
- Take responsibility for performance of assigned media budgets against outcomes.
- Be a point of escalation for team issues.
- Contribute to internal thought leadership and process improvements to increase quality and efficiency and team satisfaction.
- Set the quality standard for planning deliverables per year and improve over time.

- Provide timely and actionable feedback for team development.
- Strong spreadsheet capability and ability to use AI to build scripts.
- Monitor and support satisfaction across client teams and find ways to maintain or increase it.
