We are seeking an experienced dietary safety assessor to join our dynamic team based in Jealotts Hill as a Senior technical expert in Europe Dietary Risk Assessment. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the safety and regulatory compliance of our crop protection products in the European market. You will lead dietary risk assessment project inputs into multidisciplinary EU teams, interpret complex scientific data, and provide expert guidance on regulatory requirements for active substances, metabolites, and product registration processes.
Accountabilities
- Lead project delivery in the Europe Dietary Risk Assessment Team; ensure delivery of required dietary safety inputs to projects in order to support Europe and Global business objectives.
- Independently develop solutions to advocate, influence and deliver complex cross-functional project strategies and positions.
- Participate in, and lead, strategic projects that advance the work of the Europe Human Safety Team; communicate the outcomes within Syngenta and at external venues.
- Effectively contribute to the strategic direction of the Europe Dietary Risk Assessment / Human Safety Team.
- Prepare and review dietary safety sections of regulatory submissions for EU plant protection product registrations and renewals.
- Collaborate with toxicology and other risk assessment teams to effectively communicate safety evaluations.
- Work cross-functionally to develop integrated strategies for new product development and extending existing product registrations.
- Represent Syngenta in regulatory forums and engage with authorities (CLE, EFSA etc.).
- Stay current with EU regulations, scientific developments, and emerging issues in dietary risk assessment and human safety.
- Drive the development of project expertise and ways of working through e.g. provision of training, evaluation of evolving regulatory guidance etc.; contribute to best practices within the Europe Human Safety Team.
- Participate in industry task forces and working groups as required.
Qualifications
- BSc, MSc/Ph.D. or equivalent in a scientific discipline relevant to dietary safety, ideally with a minimum of 6 years of experience working in consumer safety, preferably in the agrochemical industry.
- Extensive knowledge of EU regulatory frameworks for plant protection products.
- Proven track record in managing complex dietary safety projects and regulatory submissions.
- Strong scientific writing and data interpretation skills.
- Experience in risk assessment and safety evaluation of chemical substances.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional teams and experience mentoring junior scientists.
- Demonstrated abilities in strategic thinking and problem solving.
- Familiarity with current trends and emerging issues in human safety.
- Active participation in professional societies and industry working groups is preferred.
- Ability to utilise and deploy digital skills would be an advantage.
