We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager or Associate Director – Electrical Design Engineering to lead and develop an Electrical discipline within a growing building services consultancy. This is a senior leadership position combining technical design expertise, team leadership, and commercial responsibility, reporting to the Engineering Director. The role will play a key part in shaping the growth, capability, and delivery performance of the electrical engineering function.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the Electrical Engineering discipline across multiple projects
- Support business growth through technical input on bids and client engagement
- Act as a senior client-facing representative for the business
- Design & Technical Delivery
- Lead electrical design for commercial and residential developments
- Cover HV/LV systems, lighting, lighting control, small power, telecoms, CCTV and fire alarm systems
- Ensure compliance with UK regulations
- Produce and review design drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam or similar tools
- Conduct site surveys, technical reports and design recommendations
- Team Development
- Lead, mentor and develop engineers and junior staff
- Provide technical governance, approval and structured training
- Ensure quality, safety and technical excellence across all deliverables
- Commercial & Delivery
- Manage budgets, resource planning and project profitability
- Monitor delivery performance, invoicing and workload allocation
- Drive efficient utilisation of engineering resources
- Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Present technical solutions clearly to clients and stakeholders
- Work with developers, architects, contractors and multidisciplinary teams
- Support business development and relationship management
About You
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering (Master’s preferred)
- Chartered Engineer (CEng – IET or equivalent)
- 12–15+ years’ UK building services consultancy experience
- Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership or associate role
- Strong knowledge of UK electrical design standards and compliance
- Proven track record delivering complex building services projects
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management experience
Key Skills
- Electrical building services design (commercial & residential)
- Strong knowledge of British Standards and UK regulations
- AutoCAD, Revit, Dialux/Relux proficiency
