We are currently recruiting for multiple Highways Inspectors to join a busy highways maintenance contract based in Gloucestershire. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with highways or civils experience looking to secure a long-term role with progression opportunities.
The successful candidate will support the inspection, assessment, and maintenance of the local highway network, ensuring safety standards and statutory requirements are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities:- Carrying out statutory highway safety inspections
- Undertaking asset condition inspections across highways, footways, cycle routes and public rights of way
- Recording and reporting defects accurately using ICT systems
- Assisting with utility inspections under the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991
- Supporting maintenance response activities through risk assessment and defect identification
- Liaising with members of the public and responding to enquiries professionally
- Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety procedures and company policies
- Supporting local network teams with inspections and operational activities
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
- Previous highways, civils, groundsworks or infrastructure experience preferred
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping
- Knowledge of highway inspections or street works legislation advantageous
- £14.43 per hour PAYE
- Temp-to-perm opportunity
- Starting salary of approximately £30,000 for unqualified applicants
- Progression to approximately £33,000 once qualification is achieved
- Full-time, long-term opportunity
