We are currently seeking an experienced Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) with a valid PTS qualification to join a major infrastructure project in the Bristol area.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out ecological inspections and monitoring activities along the railway corridor, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and project requirements before and during works.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-works ecological inspections of trackside areas.
- Identify signs of protected species and habitats, including badgers, small mammals, nesting birds, reptiles and other ecological constraints.
- Provide ecological advice to site teams and project management.
- Monitor works to ensure environmental compliance.
- Produce site records and ecological reports as required.
- Liaise with contractors, site supervisors and environmental teams.
- Ensure all works are undertaken in accordance with ecological mitigation measures and relevant legislation.
Requirements
- Experience working as an Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW).
- Valid Personal Track Safety (PTS) certification.
- Good knowledge of protected species legislation and ecological best practice.
- Ability to work independently and confidently in a rail environment.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
- Relevant ecology/environmental qualifications desirable.
