We are recruiting for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a leading highways infrastructure team operating across the South West region. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with experience in the installation, maintenance or commissioning of electrical or electronic equipment who is looking for a varied field-based role with long-term career prospects.
The Role
As an Electrical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing and commissioning of a range of roadside technology and infrastructure equipment. Working alongside project teams and specialist subcontractors, you will help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain and commission roadside technology and electrical equipment.
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs and corrective maintenance.
- Perform software, hardware and systems testing.
- Complete maintenance reports and associated documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental and quality procedures.
- Support project delivery and planned maintenance activities.
- Supervise subcontractors and operational teams when required.
- Travel across South West contract locations as part of the role.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience installing, maintaining or commissioning electrical or electronic equipment.
- ONC, HNC or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
- Basic IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Comfortable working outdoors, roadside and at height.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including occasional night and weekend work.
- Ability to pass a basic DBS check.
Desirable Experience
- HERS registration or knowledge of HERS standards.
- Highways technology, traffic systems, CCTV, communications or Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) experience.
- Experience supervising contractors or small site teams.
