We're looking for an Underwriter based in London and reporting directly to the Joint head of Professional Lines. The role involves underwriting and development of a diverse global portfolio of professional lines focused on Professional Indemnity. This role presents an excellent opportunity to develop technical underwriting skills and stakeholder management within a specialist portfolio.
What you will do:
- Assess renewal and new business risks and opportunities and apply underwriting guidelines and pricing models to ensure portfolio optimisation.
- Represent the company in client market presentations, 1-1 client meetings, broker meetings, industry events and conferences.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients to maximise new business and renewals opportunity.
- Collaborate with the claims and pricing departments to provide a viable product for our clients.
- Management and ownership of delegated authorities, undertake binder referrals and collaborate with Delegated Underwriting Authority team including timely data for reporting and underwriting control meetings.
- Support junior underwriters through referrals, and technical knowledge guidance.
- Contribute to the development and execution of the Underwriting Strategy.
- Liaise with Finance, Credit Control and Operations to prepare and review data for Lloyd's and other regulatory returns.
What you require for the role:
- Proven experience in professional lines underwriting with a strong understanding of technical underwriting and risk assessment.
- Strong trading and negotiation skills and able to communicate rationale to both brokers and clients.
- Ability to build, develop, and maintain broker and client relationships and build network.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Predominantly Excel, but also Outlook, Word and PowerBI).
- A proactive approach and strong work ethic.
- Customer-focused.
- Proven ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritise efficiently.
- Drive and ambition to develop and progress.
