Will oversee and direct social service programs/ministries, including but not limited to: new program development, case management, staff/volunteer and program supervision, collaboration with other community social service providers, and the monitoring of program outcomes, procedures and budget.Education RequirementsBachelor’s degree in social work requiredMaster’s degree in social work (MSW), preferredWork ExperienceMinimum of 5 years’ experience in social work or the social services fieldDirect Care in a Human Service setting as well as supervisory/management experienceKnowledge of Social Service field/Community ResourcesQualificationsBachelor’s degree in social work requiredMaster’s degree in social work (MSW), preferredMinimum of 5 years’ experience in social work or the social services fieldDirect Care in a Human Service setting as well as supervisory/management experienceKnowledge of Social Service field/Community ResourcesAbility to develop budgets, reports, and to maintain and monitor statistical data and fiscal records related to social services.Demonstrate knowledge and ability related to the principles and delivery of strengths-based case management.Results-oriented, with demonstrated ability to work well with people at all levels of the organization. Ability to travel as neededAble to work extended hours if needed and during the Holiday season or times of disaster.Must be able to lift 25 lbsBi-lingual, preferredDuties and Responsibilities*Each location may have duties, within the social ministries scope, specific to that Corps. Those duties should be typed in a Word document and attached to the signed job description.CaseworkInterview clients and assess needs and resources of clients.Provide emergency assistance, counseling, advocacy to clients according to the needs assessed.Make referrals to area agencies for further services.Schedule appointments for clientele as needed.Maintain accurate and confidential daily records of clients including but not limited to forms/files/correspondence/statistical information/ and other records as required.Recognize spiritual needs of persons which may require referral to the Corps Officers (who are ordained ministers of The Salvation Army).Program SupportAssist with the implementation and coordination of social ministries programs at CorpsMaintain inventory for feeding program and emergency food pantry, including supporting Corps officers in grant and in-kind donation development.Network with and cultivate collaborative relationships with key personnel at other social service agencies and community-based organizations in the corps area.Attend community meetings as requested by Corps OfficersPathway of HopeIdentify and interact with families and individuals to assess their requirements, find internal and external social services programs that would assist them, assess their most urgent needs, appraise the situation, and listen to the clients’ concerns.Develop a detailed plan of action to address identified root causes and needs of eligible clients, set goals and outcomes for said clients, and find necessary resources to meet the goalsEstablishing and strengthening solid community collaborations with outside agencies, and serving as a client advocate, enhancing a collaborative relationship to maximize the family’s ability to make informed decisions.Consult with other external agencies to provide support services and resources.Keep comprehensive records of clients’ progress throughout the process, including every call, referral, and home visit to track a family’s success.Input accurate and complete data for all contacts with clients into the social ministries database and required data tracking into Service Point database. Participate in required social service, counseling, and other appropriate TSA trainings.Stay in touch with clients to ensure the services were beneficial and that their needs are still met after pointing clients in the right direction for services.Maintain confidentiality, respect privacy, and preserve the clients’ routine and independence as much as possible.Management of Social Ministries DepartmentEnsure that all social ministries programs are well maintained and in compliance with The Salvation Army and regulatory agency standards.Submit monthly statistical and funding reportsCollaborate with Corps Officer (s) in seeking/maintaining opportunities for funding for existing programs and all new programmatic efforts.Represent The Salvation Army and participate in community agency meetings.Collaborate with the Divisional Social Ministries Director for guidance, supportive service, and technical assistance.Effective supervision of staff and volunteerRemain up to date with all Keep SAfe training as well as manage training for all staff/volunteers who work with the at risk populationsPerform other duties as assigned.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or protected veteran status and will not be discriminated against on the basis of disability.
