Senior Clinical Complex Spinal Surgery Fellow

A vacancy at St George\’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This fellowship covers a wide array of complex spinal pathology under the supervision mainly of the Orthopaedic Complex Spinal Surgeons. There is also significant overlap with Neurosurgical Complex Surgeons. We are offering a Complex Spinal Surgery post as part of a newly amalgamated Neurosurgery Department. St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint a Post CCT Clinical Fellow with an interest in complex and reconstructive spine surgery for a 12-month contract. The position involves outpatient, day case, elective, and emergency inpatient work at St George’s Hospital in Tooting. There will be opportunities to gain operative experience under the supervision of consultant surgeons. The fellow will be expected to undertake research resulting in publication in peer-reviewed journals. This position is primarily under the direct supervision of Mr Lui, Mr Bernard, and Mr Bishop, who are Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeons with a major interest in paediatric and adult deformity surgery. Application details: Applications are invited for a post-CCT clinical fellow within the Trauma & Orthopaedics department. The post is suitable for ST3+ (post CCT) candidates interested in gaining further specialist experience before a consultant role. The post supports a busy spinal surgery team, currently comprising 2 consultants, 1 registrar, and 1 clinical nurse specialist. The fellow will gain experience in trauma, metastatic spine disease, spinal infection, degenerative conditions, and deformity (adult and paediatric). There are close links with neurosurgery, offering opportunities to collaborate with neurosurgical colleagues. The candidate should be post CCT and have passed FRCS (T&O) or an equivalent qualification. The successful candidate is expected to be involved in research leading to publications.
