Performs the duties of a Sleep Lab Technician, scores sleep records of patients, and prepares reports for physician interpretation.ResponsibilitiesPerforms duties of a Sleep Lab Technician and evaluates PSG and MSLT recordings. Generates computerized PSG reports.Interprets raw data: scores polysomnograms for sleep stages using standardized criteria, computes parameters such as sleep latency, sleep efficiency, and percentage of sleep stages, and analyzes apneas and arousals (muscle and spontaneous).Determines heart rate ranges for waking and sleeping stages. Identifies and quantifies abnormalities in cardiac activity and respiration. Recognizes normal and abnormal patterns, artifacts, and sleep/wake stages.Assists with marketing the sleep lab to the outside community and staff physicians.Provides information to medical staff regarding test capabilities and requirements to increase knowledge of polysomnographic testing. Provides in-service education as needed.Performs all other related duties as assigned.Job Qualifications and SpecificationsVocational/technical training and a minimum of one year of related experience or equivalent are required.
