The faculty member is responsible for assisting each student in navigating the learning process within a course.QualificationsA Master\’s degree in a healthcare related fieldAt least one of the following certifications:Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Based (CCS-P) through AHIMACertified Professional Coder (CPC) through the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC)Current industry experience in a healthcare setting is a must.Faculty must have a minimum of two years of working knowledge of healthcare operations related to insurance billing and medical coding.College-level teaching experience in the insurance, billing, and medical coding field.Preferred experience:At least two years of experience teaching in a remote online setting with experience using learning management systems such as Blackboard, Canvas, etc.At least five years of related industry experience in codingResponsibilitiesThe position\’s responsibilities fall into eight basic areas:Subject Matter ExpertiseEffective CommunicationPedagogical MasteryOperational ExcellenceAppreciation and Promotion of DiversityAssessment of Student LearningUtilization of Technology to Enhance Teaching and LearningContinuous ImprovementAdjunct Faculty are eligible to participate in the Herzing 401(k) plan with a generous company match and our excellent education assistance programs!
