An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Family Solicitor to lead and develop a well-established Family Law department within a respected private practice in Wokingham.

This is a key leadership role offering autonomy, strategic input, and genuine long-term progression.

This role is ideal for a Senior Family Solicitor, Family Partner or aspiring Head of Department who is confident managing a caseload, supervising junior staff, and driving business development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Family Law team, overseeing performance, supervision, and development

• Handle a high-quality caseload including

  • Divorce and financial remedy matters
  • Private children work
  • Cohabitation disputes and TOLATA claims
  • Pre- and post-nuptial agreements
  • Develop and implement departmental growth strategy
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships and referral networks
  • Support fee earners with technical expertise and complex cases
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards

Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with strong family law experience
  • Senior-level candidate (5+ PQE ideally) with leadership or supervisory experience
  • Proven track record in business development and client acquisition
  • Strong technical knowledge across a broad range of family law matters
  • Excellent communication and team leadership skills

NQ Solicitors will not be suitable for this role due to the seniority required, however strong Senior Associates or Partners looking for a step up into a Head of Department role are encouraged to apply.
