About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Tax Accountant to join our busy and supportive accountancy practice based in Thirsk and Northallerton.

This role would suit an enthusiastic, hardworking, and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a client-focused environment.

You'll be involved in a wide range of accountancy and tax work, supporting a diverse portfolio of local small businesses and individuals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of financial accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
  • Handling all aspects of tax and VAT, ensuring compliance with deadlines and regulations
  • Preparing tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and limited companies
  • Finalising accounts and tax returns and liaising with clients to discuss outcomes and tax planning
  • Meeting with clients to provide clear, professional advice on financial matters
  • Reviewing and finalising work produced by junior team members
  • Candidate Profile

• The ideal candidate will demonstrate

  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication, literacy, and numeracy skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software such as Quick Books, Xero, and Sage
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience at a senior level within an accountancy practice
  • Extensive practical knowledge of all main taxes
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

  • Educated to A Level standard (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths and English at grade B or above
