We are recruiting on behalf of our client, one of the UK's leading automotive accident repairers, for the position of Vehicle MET Technician at their busy repair centre in Swindon.

Duties of the MET Technician

  • Remove damaged parts to facilitate repairs, storing parts safely and correctly for re-fitting
  • Conduct thorough inspections for additional damage and identify required parts, liaising with the Vehicle Damage Assessor for ordering
  • Confirm parts availability and accuracy to ensure smooth repair workflow
  • Refit vehicles post-repair, ensuring panels are handled carefully to prevent damage and maintaining proper panel gaps within manufacturers' tolerances
  • Replace mechanical components, such as steering, drivetrain, and engine parts as necessary
  • Reset Vehicle Control Units using diagnostic equipment
  • Follow all health and safety legislation and internal procedures, attending regular safety training
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and consumables in good condition
  • Support team members and undertake additional activities as required

Requirements of the MET Technician

  • Recognised qualification in automotive MET/vehicle body repair or working towards an IMI qualification is preferred
  • Consideration given to individuals with extensive experience in vehicle body repair or strip and fit, even without formal qualifications
  • Solid track record in vehicle body repair, strip and fit, or experience as a Vehicle Technician transitioning to body repair
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to follow detailed job instructions, prioritise tasks, and work independently while supporting the team
  • Valid UK driving licence with minimal points is essential
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards
