The Opportunity

We are seeking a talented Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Durrington, West Sussex.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of water and wastewater projects, providing technical expertise and delivering innovative engineering solutions that support critical infrastructure across the UK water industry.

Working alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams, you will play a key role in producing high-quality design deliverables, solving complex engineering challenges, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

This role is ideal for an engineer with water industry experience who is looking to further develop their technical expertise while contributing to meaningful and sustainable infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Delivery
  • Provide technical engineering support on water and wastewater projects.
  • Produce and review engineering calculations, reports, drawings and technical documentation.
  • Gather, analyse and interpret data to support design development.
  • Assist Principal and Senior Engineers in managing and coordinating projects.
  • Undertake quality assurance checks on technical deliverables.
  • Resolve complex engineering and design challenges.
  • Support the delivery of both standalone schemes and elements of larger capital projects.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to Graduate Engineers, Assistant Engineers and Technicians.
  • Health, Safety & Environment
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Carry out risk assessments as required.
  • Promote safe and sustainable engineering practices.
  • Wear and use appropriate PPE when required.
  • Innovation
  • Research industry best practice and emerging technologies.
  • Support the implementation of innovative and digital engineering solutions.
  • Contribute to improved standardisation and efficiency across projects.
  • Collaboration & Leadership
  • Work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Attend and contribute to project and team meetings.
  • Coach and mentor junior members of the engineering team.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders and clients.
  • Project & Commercial Awareness
  • Deliver assigned work within agreed timescales and budgets.
  • Estimate task durations and contribute to project planning.
  • Understand the impact of engineering decisions on project costs and programme delivery.

About You

Essential

  • Degree (BEng, MEng, BSc) or HNC in Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related numerate scientific discipline.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience working within the UK water and/or wastewater industry.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles relevant to your discipline.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative to solve technical challenges.

Desirable

  • Professional membership of a relevant engineering institution, or actively working towards chartered/incorporated status.
  • Experience in water or wastewater design.
  • Knowledge of asset management practices within the water sector.
