Location: Field-based (Midlands, North of England & Scotland)
Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 / Company car or allowance

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Subsidence Specialist to join a growing company after a recent increase in project demand.

This is a key role responsible for managing a portfolio of subsidence claims from initial diagnosis through to repair and final completion.

You will act as the technical lead and referral point within the subsidence team, ensuring accurate decision-making, high-quality reporting, and excellent customer outcomes while balancing cost and time efficiencies.

This is a field-based role covering the Midlands, North of England and Scotland, with travel and occasional overnight stays required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical / repair referral expert for subsidence claims within your region
  • Review surveyor and inspector reports to produce clear, accurate technical assessments and diagnoses (subsidence, heave, landslip or alternative causes)

• Instruct and interpret site investigations including

  • Drainage surveys (CCTV)
  • Level monitoring
  • Satellite monitoring
  • Distortion surveys
  • Produce concise technical reports and recommendations aligned with policy coverage
  • Develop and manage repair specifications, including substructure and superstructure works
  • Oversee claims from initial notification through to project completion
  • Collaborate with contractors, surveyors, policyholders, and internal stakeholders
  • Manage variation orders and ensure adherence to policy terms
  • Ensure all outputs meet agreed service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of subsidence processes, systems, and training
  • Support and mentor colleagues, leading by example in technical excellence and service delivery
  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal teams

About You

You will be a confident decision-maker with strong technical expertise in subsidence and domestic construction.

Essential

  • Recognised qualification in engineering or surveying
  • Chartered status (e. g. MIStruct E, MICE, RICS, MCIOB, MCABE or equivalent)
  • Extensive experience in subsidence claims within the insurance sector

• Strong understanding of

  • Foundation movement (subsidence, heave, landslip)
  • Domestic building repair techniques
  • Excellent report-writing and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Proven ability to manage workloads and prioritise effectively
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • CII qualification (Cert CII or above)
  • Previous experience in a senior or referral-level technical role
