Our client is a leading engineering business specialising in the inspection, refurbishment, repair, and manufacture of turbomachinery.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Mechanical Workshop Engineer with a strong background in turbomachinery to join their skilled engineering team.
This is a hands-on role focused on the inspection, machining, refurbishment, and assembly of turbine rotors and other rotating equipment to OEM standards.
The successful candidate will have proven workshop experience working with turbomachinery, be confident handling heavy rotating components, and have a strong understanding of precision engineering, machining, and dimensional inspection.
Responsibilities
- Experience handling rotor's up to 10 tons lifting, inspecting and fine machining.
- Familiar with standard inspection techniques including but not limited to blasting, dimensional inspections.
- Working to OEM QHSE standards.
- Strong experience in the operation and understanding of most workshop equipment for example lathes, milling machines and CNC equipment.
- Able to read and understand manufacturing drawings and work to tight tolerances, limits and fits.
- Support field service during major outages e. g. providing special tooling, work branches, onsite inspections.
Experience
- 5 - 10 years experience of rotating equipment - workshop or field based
- Vocational training in engineering
- Strong manufacturing/production/workshop background.
- Some level of commercial and cost awareness.
