Interconnects Design Engineer - Test Equipment required for long term contract based in Stevenage (preferred) or Bolton

Individuals will need to have demonstrable experience in cable/harness/interconnects design, using relevant design packages such as Visio and Harn Ware.

The ideal candidate will have

  • A minimum 2 years' experience in the use of Visio and related products (Harnware).
  • A proven ability to define, deploy, and refine processes and best practices within Visio and Harnware. - including; electrical topology, wiring schematics and 2D manufacturing drawing processes and standards.
  • Thorough understanding of product data management and change management within Windchill or similar.
  • The ability to design cable assemblies based upon electrical constraints such as current, screening, signal types, volt drop, EMC and environmental requirements.
  • An appreciation of cable assembly production/process engineering.

Due to the nature of our work, experience of military Defence Standards and a working knowledge of D38999 connectors in support of cable harness manufacture is highly desirable.

  • Ideally Degree/HND/HNC qualified plus significant experience in Interconnects/Harness Design and Development.
  • The ability to lead interconnects/harness design work packages and have experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team with the awareness and understanding of the challenges that this may bring.
  • Excellent verbal communication, negotiation and influencing skills with the capability to write clear and concise engineering documentation.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to influence and negotiate with partners across the business.
  • Experience of supplier engagement and development across internal and external multi-disciplinary teams.
  • The awareness and understanding of cultural differences with the ability to adapt accordingly.
