We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter to join a well-established and growing manufacturing business based in Stanford-le-Hope. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Fitter looking to join a stable company offering a Monday to Friday days-based role, excellent training opportunities, and long-term career progression.

The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across a range of production and site equipment. You will work closely with the engineering team to ensure machinery reliability, minimise downtime, and support continuous improvement projects across the site.

Non-Negotiable Requirements for the Mechanical Fitter:

  • Recognised mechanical engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, Apprenticeship or equivalent)
  • Previous experience working as a Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Fitter or Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
  • Strong fault-finding and mechanical maintenance skills
  • Experience working within an industrial, manufacturing, production or processing environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Requirements for the Mechanical Fitter:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance activities
  • Respond to mechanical breakdowns and equipment failures
  • Diagnose and repair faults on conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, motors and associated equipment
  • Assist with machinery installations and continuous improvement projects
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with company procedures
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation

Desirable Requirements for the Mechanical Fitter:

  • Welding or fabrication experience
  • Experience using CMMS systems
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Experience within a heavy industrial or automated manufacturing environment
  • Multi-skilled maintenance experience
