Your Company: NET Recruit are delighted to be partnering with a leading engineering and equipment solutions organisation who are seeking a Repair Technician to join their expanding workshop team in a full-time, permanent capacity based in Totton. This organisation is recognised for delivering high-quality engineering and temperature control solutions across a wide range of commercial and industrial sectors. As their hire fleet continues to grow, they are investing in their workshop facilities and are looking for a skilled and motivated technician to help maintain the reliability, performance and longevity of their specialist equipment.

The successful candidate will become an integral part of the workshop operation, supporting the repair, refurbishment and maintenance of a diverse fleet of hire equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys fault finding, problem-solving and working within a collaborative technical environment.

Your Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting faults across a wide range of hire equipment within the workshop
  • Stripping down, repairing and rebuilding chillers, pumps, motors, heat exchangers and associated mechanical equipment
  • Replacing faulty components and carrying out repairs to ensure equipment meets operational and quality standards
  • Supporting the refurbishment programme to maximise the lifespan and reliability of the hire fleet
  • Conducting inspections and testing to ensure repaired equipment is fully operational before returning to service
  • Maintaining accurate service records and workshop documentation
  • Using a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete repairs
  • Ensuring workshop housekeeping is maintained to a high standard while adhering to all health and safety procedures
  • Working closely with colleagues across the workshop and wider engineering teams to support operational priorities
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance workshop efficiency and equipment performance

What You Will Need to Apply:

The ideal candidate for this role will have previous experience working within a workshop, mechanical engineering, plant maintenance or equipment repair environment, with strong practical skills and a passion for engineering. Applicants should demonstrate experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical equipment, alongside the ability to confidently use a range of hand and power tools. A methodical approach to fault finding and strong problem-solving skills will be essential.

A recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification or a completed engineering apprenticeship would be highly advantageous, as would previous experience working with HVAC, refrigeration or industrial equipment. An F-Gas Category 3 qualification would also be beneficial, although this is not essential. Candidates should possess basic IT skills and be comfortable updating maintenance records using computer systems. Excellent communication skills, a collaborative approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team will also be important.

The successful individual will be reliable, safety-conscious and committed to delivering high-quality workmanship. Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and demonstrate a proactive attitude towards continuous learning and professional development.
