The Opportunity

Planet Recruitment are working with a leading UK manufacturer of specialist electronic safety equipment to recruit an Electronics Field Service Engineer.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established engineering business that designs and manufactures industry-leading products used across a wide range of industrial sectors.

Full product training will be provided, making this an ideal opportunity for an engineer with electronics service experience who is looking to develop specialist knowledge within a growing and highly respected organisation.

The Role

As an Electronics Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for servicing, repairing, calibrating and commissioning electronic equipment at customer sites throughout the Slough area.

You will play a key role in ensuring customers receive a first-class service while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.

This is a field-based position with occasional travel outside of your designated region to support larger projects requiring multiple engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned servicing, maintenance and calibration of electronic equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and complete repairs to the required standards.
  • Commission new equipment and ensure systems are fully operational.
  • Demonstrate completed work to customers and provide user guidance where required.
  • Complete service reports and associated documentation accurately and on time.
  • Work closely with the Service Administration team to ensure efficient scheduling of customer visits.
  • Maintain van stock, tools, testing equipment and calibration equipment.
  • Complete site-specific risk assessments and safety documentation.
  • Ensure PPE, equipment and company vehicle are maintained to company standards.
  • Support fellow engineers on larger installations and service projects when required.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service at every stage of the service process.

About You

We're looking for someone with strong technical ability, excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach.

Ideally you'll have

  • HNC/HND in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience servicing, repairing or fault-finding electronic equipment.
  • Previous Field Service Engineering experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Installation and/or commissioning experience is desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • A proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work independently while also supporting a wider engineering team.

Training can be provided for qualifications such as Confined Space, IPAF and Safety Passport.

Please note this role can involve working at height and in confined spaces where required.
