The Role
As a Multi Skilled Plumber, a typical day might include

  • Undertaking all types of plumbing repairs including taps, WCs and wastes, plus basic tiling, across Acis housing stock and other properties – covering emergency and scheduled responsive repairs as well as renovation works
  • Arranging materials and plant, directly or under supervision, for an efficient and productive return on expenditure
  • Ensuring the correct materials are available to complete work to the required standard
  • Liaising with tenants and your line manager on the timing and progress of work
  • Ensuring safe handling and storage of plant and equipment, including road-worthiness checks on your vehicle
  • Carrying out work in line with current Approved Codes of Practice and Building Regulations, including localised risk assessments
  • Being customer focused, with flexibility in working hours as the job demands
  • Ensuring the repairs and maintenance Code of Conduct is fully complied with
  • Completing further training and qualifications as the role and legislation demand
  • Providing and maintaining a full tool kit for all reasonable duties
  • Taking responsibility for the proper handling, care, security and maintenance of equipment, plant, materials and vehicles
  • Working safely in line with Health and Safety Regulations, using ladders, scaffold access or hydraulic platforms as tasks dictate
  • Lifting materials, tool kits, ladders and power tools, and fitting components in confined spaces and awkward postures
  • Lone working with the public and in tenants' homes, including at height and in empty properties

What We're Looking For
The must haves

  • NVQ Level 2 in a specific trade, i. e. plumbing, or equivalent, with the ability to undertake other trade work
  • A full driving licence
  • Several years' experience of repairs and maintenance work within both void and tenanted properties
  • A sound understanding of the construction industry, including legislation, health and safety, manual handling and working at heights
  • Good knowledge and experience of working within social housing
  • The ability to plan ahead to ensure all jobs are completed on time, first time
  • Resilience – working in social housing is a challenging but rewarding career, and you'll be helping to bring real change to our customers' lives
