Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a Sheffield-based business to recruit an experienced Finance Manager on an initial 6-month contract. This is a hands-on role for someone who can step into the business and quickly take ownership of key areas of the finance function. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, managing month-end and year-end processes, and acting as a key point of contact for external audit.

The role would suit someone who is confident working independently, can hit the ground running and is comfortable taking ownership in a busy finance environment.

The Role

  • Taking ownership of the month-end close process and ensuring reporting deadlines are met
  • Preparing and reviewing monthly management accounts and financial reporting
  • Overseeing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating variances
  • Managing the year-end process and supporting the preparation of statutory accounts
  • Acting as the key point of contact for external auditors and coordinating audit requirements
  • Preparing audit schedules and providing information to auditors as required
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cashflow reporting
  • Providing financial analysis and insight to support business decision-making
  • Maintaining effective financial controls and ensuring finance processes are followed
  • Supporting the wider finance team and senior stakeholders with financial information
  • Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes and reporting
  • Supporting ad hoc finance projects and wider business requirements

About You

The successful candidate will be an experienced Finance Manager who can quickly understand a business, take ownership and operate with minimal supervision. You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a Finance Manager or in a similar senior finance position
  • Strong month-end and management accounting experience
  • Experience managing year-end and working with external auditors
  • Good understanding of financial reporting, controls and reconciliations
  • Strong Excel and financial analysis skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisation
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • A proactive, hands-on approach
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with senior stakeholders
  • The ability to adapt quickly and make an immediate contribution
  • ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualification is desirable, although QBE candidates with the relevant experience will also be considered.
