Walkers Motor Group are a family owned business, operating the Vauxhall and Peugeot franchises.

They have been successfully selling and repairing cars in the Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire areas for over 40 years.

The role

The Workshop Controller role is one of the busiest and most important roles within the dealership and consists of assigning work to Vehicle Technicians to ensure the smooth running of the workshop.

The role will involve ensuring all incoming work is planned as well as managing the time and resource of your team.

You will assign a team of Technicians to tasks ensuring productivity is maximised and that deadlines are adhered to.

Key responsibilities

  • Overseeing a team of Vehicle Technicians
  • Responsible for ensuring all incoming work is planned and managed effectively
  • Assigning work to Vehicle Technicians and ensuring maximum productivity is being achieved
  • Utilisation of the workshop is at full capacity
  • Handling customers queries, over the phone and face to face
  • Meeting deadlines and set objectives
  • To identify additional work that needs doing and upsell to customers

Experience and skills we're looking for

  • Experience of managing a team of Vehicle Technicians or Mechanics
  • Must be able to demonstrate leadership and identify problems within the workshop and understand how to fix them
  • Must have a CAN-DO attitude with the ability to prioritise / organise work to ensure the workshop runs smoothly
  • Strong communication is ESSENTIAL - you are the central person who service, parts and technicians will report too and therefore must be able to give quick solutions to any issues
  • Ability to maximise utilisation and productivity
  • Technically minded, preferably with previous Vehicle Technician / Car Mechanic experience
