We are currently working with a well-established planning consultancy based in Sandwich, Kent, who are looking to appoint a Graduate Town Planner on a permanent basis.

The Role

As a Graduate Town Planner, you will work closely with experienced planners and consultants, supporting the delivery of planning projects for a range of clients.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications.
  • Undertaking planning research and policy reviews.
  • Preparing planning statements, reports and supporting documentation.
  • Assisting with planning appraisals and development assessments.
  • Liaising with clients, local planning authorities and other professional consultants.

  • Supporting senior team members across a variety of residential, commercial and development projects.
  • Keeping up to date with changes to planning policy, legislation and local planning matters.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have

  • A degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning or a related discipline.
  • A genuine interest in developing a career within planning consultancy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good research, analytical and organisational abilities.
  • An understanding of the UK planning system and relevant planning policy.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.
  • A proactive, enthusiastic and commercially aware approach.
  • The confidence to work both independently and as part of a wider team.

Previous planning experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
